On the Road with Nordic and Spruce
Introduction
Matt and Brendan from Nordic and Spruce hit the road to visit four of our tiny homes across the South. The goal was simple. To see how our homes live and breathe once they are in the world, and to explore what tiny living really means to the people who build, host, and live in them.
Stop One. The Iris
Nestled near Knoxville, Tennessee, The Iris is a perfect blend of peace and connection. Hannah, the homeowner, created a space that feels both cozy and complete.
Matt and Brendan arrived after a long day of driving, unpacked wings and firewood, and spent the evening playing cards by the fire. “This place just feels right,” Matt said. “It’s simple, but it feels complete.”
Hannah’s thoughtful setup, from the septic system to the gravel foundation, shows that practical design can still feel beautiful. Being close to Knoxville means guests can enjoy both quiet nights and easy access to the city.

Stop Two. Nomadic Stays
The second stop took Matt and Brendan to Asheville, North Carolina, where Ethan built a peaceful mountain retreat called Nomadic Stays. The home feels alive with light and texture. “There’s just so much peace as soon as you walk in,” Matt said. “Everything about the materials and layout feels intentional.”
Ethan designed his home as both a personal retreat and an Airbnb investment. His success sparked conversation about the financial benefits of owning a quality-built tiny home. “These homes can pay for themselves quickly,” Matt explained. “They don’t depreciate like campers do, and the craftsmanship holds value.”

Stop Three. Atlanta Tiny House
Next came the bright and busy streets of downtown Atlanta, where Michael’s tiny home brings calm to an urban setting. The lush garden and tree canopy surrounding his home make it feel like a private retreat, even in the heart of the city.
“How is something like this even legal in a place like Atlanta?” Brendan asked. Matt explained that zoning and certification play key roles. “Every city and county has different rules, but certification matters. Our NOAH-certified homes are inspected multiple times, which gives people confidence that they meet national safety standards.”
As the sun filtered through the trees, the team admired how Michael’s setup blended urban energy with natural serenity. “It feels tropical,” Brendan said. “You get this mix of gold and green light. It’s really magical.”

Stop Four. The Silhouette
The final stop brought the team back to Tennessee to visit The Silhouette, a quiet home set on a wooded property alive with fall colors. The owners Nate and Sylvia had recently started renting it as an Airbnb while also using it as a guest space.
Nate shared how he built much of the setup himself. “The hardest part was figuring out water and power from my house,” he said. “But doing it myself saved money and taught me a lot.”
Matt admired the calm, simple design. “It’s earthy, warm, and has everything you need,” he said. “It’s what tiny living should feel like.”
As the trip came to an end, Matt and Brendan sat by the fire, reflecting on what they’d seen.

Reflections from the Road
Across four homes, one truth stood out. Tiny living is not about giving things up. It’s about gaining peace, connection, and clarity.
Each homeowner had their own reason for choosing a Nordic and Spruce home. Some built to host others. Some built for income. Others built to slow down and find balance. But every story shared one heartbeat. Each person found freedom in simplicity.
Matt summed it up best. “You can feel it when you walk into these homes. They are crafted with care and purpose. Each one tells its own story, and that’s what makes this work so meaningful.”
